Built in 2004, this 1-bedroom 1-bath, 1830 sq ft home* (*approximate and based on appraisal report 2/07) on a full 3-acre lot includes hundreds of acres of common land in the Greater World subdivision (other lots are mostly 1-1.5 acres). It has photovoltaic panels, solar hot water heater plus on demand propane water heater, nearly 5,000 gallon cement cistern, copper plumbing, thermopane windows, honeycomb blinds, flagstone floors, t&g ceilings, Sunfrost DC refrigerator, Staber Energy/Water efficient washer, Jotul woodstove in living room, Rinnai propane heater in bedroom, 2 large interior grey-water planters, an exterior black water planter, and private septic system. The 16' diameter round living room and bedroom each have an operable skylight in the center of their domed ceiling. The large bedroom closet provides additional storage. Mud room, airlock rooms at both east & west entrances, more storage areas in both turret-topped rooms at either end, kitchen, mechanical room, planters and bathroom – all front the entire southern-facing passive-solar window side. Utility costs are minimal. To give you an idea of annual expenses: it has internet access/monthly Taosnet expense $50. Cell phone usage or internet phone (no land line). Annual propane tank rental $80 (but I haven't needed to purchase propane for 3 years! – and my last cord of firewood has lasted over 3 years !) Annual Waste management dump card fee $100.
