This house and guesthouse/studio offer the solitude of Montana and the convenience of close proximity to Livingston and Bozeman and is 50 miles north of Yellowstone National Park via the spectacularly beautiful drive along the Yellowstone River through Paradise Valley. The land is only 20 miles from Bridger Bowl Ski area and 60 miles from Big Sky and Moonlight Basin Ski areas.
The house and guesthouse were designed to bring the outdoors into the living space with expanses of glass and doors from every interior space directly to the outdoors. The rolling grassland foothills are seasonal home to whitetail and mule deer, fox, grouse, and early April boasts dawn visits from a resident 200 or more elk. The house is approximately 2,500 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, unobstructed open spaces and a kitchen/greenhouse that is nothing less than spectacular. The floors are radiant heated sealed concrete and Massaranduba (a certified sustainable hardwood from Brazil); the walls are Italian plaster. A reclaimed redwood soaking tub and well crafted steel accents are just a few of the unique features of this home. The studio/guesthouse is an open plan, 1,700 sf building with a ¾ bath and small kitchenette. There is also a 900 sf wood and steel hobby shop located to the west of the studio/guesthouse.
This home has been featured in several publications including the cover project for the book “Off The Grid Homes” released in 2007. The home has numerous “green” attributes, many of which are illustrated in the various publications in which it has been featured. The photographs are certainly illustrative of the landscape and house, but all who have visited say that the home and landscape are far more beautiful and subtly comfortable than even the photographs depict.
Neighborhood Description
This home is situated on 40 acres of rolling hills and grassland approximately 4 miles west of Livignston and 16 miles east of Bozeman, Montana. The views are unbelievable. There is one visible neighbor is you begin the driveway... after that, you are all alone. Deer are always on the property and elk come down during calving season (about 200 elk). The minimum acreage in this area is 40, so there will never be any neighbors in your view. The Wineglass mountain is immediately south, the Absaraka Mountains (wilderness area) is SE, the Bangtails to the north... and millions of stars every night.Market Area
Bozeman, Montana: Montana State University and a fantastic town with excellent resources and amenities / Livingston, Montana: the best little town in Montana, around 7,000 population and the Yellowstone River flows right through it (where Robert Redford's "A River Runs Through It" was filmed). 52 miles north of Yellowstone Park.
