Enough electricity is generated from 1250 watt photovoltaic panels and 1000 watt wind turbine to power 2 chest freezers, an electric refrigerator and a wind/solar water heating system, small home office, and daily electrical needs. It has a liberal arts college (Luther College), a community college about 20 miles away (Northeast Iowa Community College), excellent public schools, and organic food coop, Seed Savers Exchange, and a seasonal farmers market.
