What makes your home a Green or Healthy Home?
This 100% off the grid home relies on two Solar PV arrays and a micro-hydroelectric system that provide an abundance of energy to live comfortably. Energy generated on site is stored in a 24V DC battery bank and then processed through an "Outback Power Systems" inverter so that the home is powered at 120V AC. This allows the convenience of normal "on-grid" appliances, lights, and other electrical equipment.
The manufactured "Marlette" home is constructed with 2 X 6 framing, thermal paned windows, natural wood siding, composite roof and thermal barrier under the structure. The roof was replaced in 2006 with a 30 year composite. The four quality skylights were replaced at that time. The eaves and gables were extended 18 inches to provide better weather protection and create a custom home look.
The home is heated by a wood fired stove and also a propane furnace. Much of the fuel wood to heat the home is available on the property.Property Description
This full featured home has all the amenities of an "on-grid" property but with the reliability of solar and hydroelectric power generated on-site. The home is tucked into the Humbug creek basin and prudently situated on the property. The open floor plan inside provides a comfortable spacious feel but at the same time creating a "cabin in the woods" setting. The large vaulted living area combines the entry, living and dining room spaces. The modest kitchen area has 3 large windows and is mostly open to the living area and provides an abundance of cabinet and counter space. The dining area has 3 large windows and can accommodate a large dining table arrangement. The spacious vaulted living area has 6 large windows an two skylights. The wood fired stove and ceiling fan provide abundant heat for the entire home if the propane furnace is not utilized.
The flooring throughout the home is solid white oak tounge and groove. The two bathrooms and laundry floors are ceramic tile.
The hallway provides access to the bedrooms, bathrooms, hall closet and laundry room. The two front bedrooms have easy access to the hall bathroom. The laundry has lots of cabinet and counter space including a large tub sink and exterior door.
The large vaulted master bedroom accesses the spacious master bath. The bath has two sink areas, walk-in shower and a modest walk-in closet and large skylight. A sliding glass door in the master bedroom provides access to the rear deck area.
The 1400 sq. ft. deck area completely surrounds the home. Approximately 800 sq. ft. was replaced with the remainder rebuilt. 200 sq. ft. of deck space is under a covered porch area. A portion of the deck surrounds a modest rose garden that overlooks the lower yard and creek. Much of the deck is shaded during the warmer months by beautiful maple trees.
Multiple outbuildings provide ample storage and work areas. A small pole barn is convenient for a covered parking area or many other uses. The adjacent "pumphouse" contains the well, batteries, inverters, 12V DC "Sunfrost" freezer and provides room for a small functional workshop.
Humbug creek bisects the property an provides about 700 feet of shaded creekside access. The creek is lined with abundant white alder, big leaf maple, and ponderosa pine. Water flows year-round, with the exception being 2014 due the effects of the extended drought on the west coast. In 2014 the creek flowed for ten months through the property.
