What makes your home a Green or Healthy Home?
Passive solar design, grid-tied solar power with battery backup, solar hot water, on demand hot water, radiant heat, energy efficient appliances, high efficiency wood stoves, denim insulation, extensive heirloom family orchard, community garden, inert tumbled onyx flooring, 100% wool Berber carpet in guest room, MCS friendly (friend staying there 1+ years with no issues), designed incorporating Permaculture principles, autonomous water supply. The house is located in a rural area free from cell phone towers and power lines, and far from conventional agriculture, industry, or air pollution.Property Description
The house is one of seven on a 175-acre parcel owned by a group of Partners. We each own our own house and have use and enjoyment of one acre around it, with the surrounding land left as wild space to assure a private sanctuary with no encroaching development.
This house is a magical place, a unique, healing retreat, created over the course of 17 years with massive investment of heart and soul energy.
Incorporating Permaculture principles, the property is largely energy autonomous. It backs to Matilija Creek, a major tributary of the Ventura River, which runs year-round. Heirloom fruit trees dot the land. The house, built with non-toxic and environmentally conscious materials, is a work of art in a one-of-a kind, exquisite setting. It is tranquil, rejuvenating, and serene, while also stimulating and dynamic. It is a place of renewal and creativity, a true haven. This is a substantial, comfortable home in a natural setting. The presence of sulfur hot springs on the land is nothing short of miraculous. Our home has two private indoor and outdoor soaking tubs and there are two additional wild springs within 100’ that are shared by the group. The closest privately owned hot springs to LA, it is also arguably the nicest…. and, in fact, the only hot springs property available for purchase. This is truly a rare opportunity to own your own piece of paradise.
Neighborhood Description
Matilija Canyon is just 15 minutes outside of town but a world away. A beautiful, wild setting with only a handful of homes, it is embedded in the Los Padres National Forest.
