Gable ends are double insulated to R-40 as well as the ceilings. Domestic hot water is provided by a tank-less water heater backed by solar hot water. Heat is both wood stove and hot water radiators fueled by a propane tank-less boiler. Cooling is passive and assisted by natural cool breezes and ceiling fans.This home is powered by 45 150 watt panels producing up to 82 Kilowatts per month. The system is backed up by 12 1100 AH batteries that run the home at night and a 15 KVA propane generator. Propane is the only outside energy source and it averages less than $35 per month.
