What makes your home a Green or Healthy Home?
The home is totally ‘off the grid’, our energy provided by the sun and some wind, but we do have a backup propane generator. The home was featured in Fine Home Building magazine that describes the systems in the house and also in Solar Today magazine. This house was one of the first of its kind and thousands of peoples have toured the home to learn more about solar energy and water conservation. It is passive solar with exterior shutters on all openings, 20" thick masonry walls, beautiful brick floors. Water is precious here in the desert and we conserve in every way imaginable, have a grey water system, rain water harvesting, underground cisterns.Property Description
We call this 'Dream with Sahuaros' and that really is what it is.
Unbelievable setting, incredibly sustainable, but is the livability that makes this 'home'. You must see the beautiful materials, masonry and cedar, and all of the special touches, like lighted niches, copper accents, There is a sense of space yet it is intimate and always connected to the spectacular sahuaros and desert outside. There are 8 different outdoor spaces to soak up the various beauties that are here. It doesn’t get much better than spending the evening in the hot tub overlooking this unique view of the city or sitting next to a cozy fire outside and listening to the quail start their day or watching a doe and fawn sipping from the back yard water source as you sip your morning coffee or lying on the balcony watching the stars and hearing the howling of the coyote pack nearby. Then top it off, literally, with a glass of wine in the tower high above the house with 360 degree views.
Your guests, and there will be many who want to come stay with you, have a separate, totally equipped casita so you get to enjoy them and your total privacy too.
This house is incredible well built and if your were to come here a thousand years from now the massive walls would still be standing.
You really have to see the website (I am not allowed to give it to you, haha) with the drone footage and the history of this piece of land.
