This artesian water is captured and gravity feeding two (one on each property) 1000 gallon underground water tanks. The tank is fitted with another stainless submersible pump with controls and sediment filitration. Both properties enjoy this mineral rich free flowing artesian water (fyi..the water is soft!) with a very infrequent need for the well pump to turn on. The materials and design of our home provides for a low maintenence environment, both inside and out. We have cultivated a 400 sq ft raised bed organic garden where we enjoy 2-3 growing seasons. Half of this space has 3 ft tall raised beds for standup gardening and also a framework for shadecloth for summer growing. All of the garden space is fenced for critters. We do not use pesticides or poison for weeds, insects, etc on this property. There is a small tool shed with electric nearby the garden. Neighborhood Description
Panoramic Galiuro Mountain views on 14.69 acres of rare riparian Sonoran Desert, bordering the San Pedro River & 200 acres of permanent conservation land.
The property adjoins almost 200 acres of permanent conservation land along the San Pedro River and surrounding riparian area. The caretaker of the property is SRP ( Salt River Project) . The “third party” managing partner is The Nature Conservancy. The primary conservation value, in addition to the most obvious preservation of the limited undeveloped riparian areas left in the Southwest, is the preservation of natural habitat for 2 species of endangered birds; the Southwestern Willow Flycatcher and the Yellow Billed Cuckoo. Both these species have been documented by Audubon to be nesting along this stretch of the River. The San Pedro is considered to be one of the primary pathways for migrating birds. Since our arrival in 2003 we have spotted over 60 species of migrating birds as well as the usual full time aviarian residents that we share this beautiful place with. Access to the conservation land for hiking & bird watching is available with permission. The property is part of the original 160 acres that was entirely fenced in and SRP has since installed additional fencing between the conservation area and the private land owners with gate access from various points, one of which is on this property. This is not a public access gate .Market Area
The property is located 8 miles from the town of San Manuel ( population 3,000) and 50 miles to Tucson.School District
