What makes your home a Green or Healthy Home?

Modern off-grid electrical, and water systems. South facing earth sheltered design with fixed and moveable shade features.

Property Description

Located at a cool elevation of 4,700 ft in southern Arizona. This property features rural, off-grid living. South facing earth sheltered design along with both fixed and movable shade provides for minimal heating or cooling, winter and summer. Electricity is provided by Photovoltaic panels. An on-site well with both wind and solar pumps provides ample, clean, natural water. Natural landscaping contributes to low yard maintenance, although there is plenty of personal creativity opportunity for those with a green thumb. A beautiful artistic design inspired by Italian architect, urban designer, artist, craftsman, and philosopher, Paolo Soleri, the founder and mind behind the Arcosanti community in northern Arizona. Gerry and Ann Cunningham designed and built this home as the culmination of decades of experience designing, building, and living in free-form domes. Free-form curves grace every room and colored glass collected from all over the world makes ever-changing designs of color on floor and walls as the sun moves across the sky. Dramatic views across the valley to Red Mountain behind the community of Patagonia, and the mountains beyond. Clear-stories and skylights make every room light and airy by day. Ample built-in LED lighting cheers every room by night. USB ports and 12V outlets everywhere make it convenient to keep technology fully charged. Separate Guest house with it's own PV system.

Neighborhood Description

Exclusive acreage subdivision. The nearest visible neighbour house is almost half a mile away. This property is open range, and horses may be kept. Rolling grassy hills with mesquite and desert oak trees.
