What makes your home a Green or Healthy Home?

During the year long remodel many considerations were taken in regards to keeping things healthy and energy efficient. All paint utilized is either low VOC or no VOC. All windows except the one in the bathroom were replaced with solar shade double pane vinyl windows. The old sliding glass door, which was single pane, was replaced with a new french door double pain glass door. A lot of the electrical was updated as well as water piping and an entirely new propane pipe system which provides for the stove and optional hook ups for a propane dryer and vent-free gas wall heater for the living room. A new energy efficient water heater was installed and a new grey water system added which waters one of the trees and has a leech field which stays green and would be perfect to add ornamental shrubs. All wood trim and baseboards are real wood instead of composites. The energy efficiency with this home has given me an electric bill as low as $65 and no higher than $115 per month. The water though classified as municipal is drawn from a well so there are no harsh chemical treatments. All the gardening and insect control has been done so organically. The kitchen counter tops were custom built out of butcher block boards and stained with an organic treatment. The sealer on top is a food safe sealant so placing food directly on the counter is perfectly safe.

This unique home which is classified as a tiny home is located on a dead end road in a quiet neighborhood. Immediately after I purchased the home I began a major remodel of the entire house and property. Everything inside the house is new with the exception of the refrigerator and stove. The upper deck, which is 6 by 14 feet, was refurbished and updated with reinforcement. The lower deck is brand new and is 6 by 27 feet. The property is completely fenced in with double swing gates at the entrance plus fencing around the house as well. There are two outbuildings both are 10 by 12 feet. One is a laundry room/storage shed and the other I installed last year which is used as a workshop with power. The list of what I have done to the place is quite long and I can let you know all that has been done. NOTE: Owner carry or rent to own offers are not accepted. Serious inquiries only. The front and sides of the house are surrounded with mature shade trees and other gardening which gives it a feel of a little oasis making this 1.17 acre property seem much bigger. There is also hook ups for an RV with water, sewage, power (50amps) and phone/cable available. Some important items are a new grey water system, electrical in the kitchen, flooring, windows, hot water heater, lighting inside and outside including security lighting, toilet, bathroom sink and refurbished shower. The kitchen has custom built counters and the counter tops are made of butcher blocks with a food safe coating. The roof is about 5 years old and is shingled. For being a smaller house there is a lot of storage space with custom built shelving in the bathroom and outside of it on the stair landing. Another great thing about this house besides the views of the mountains and valley from the upper deck is that the utilities are very low in comparison to most places such as the water bill which I pay less than $20 per month. The water system for Golden Valley comes from wells so there is no harsh processing of the water like you have in cities. The house is basically 95% complete as far as the remodel goes and the rest will be left to the next owners. This home would make a great starter home for a young family, a bachelor pad or a vacation home for snow birds. The house is located in Golden Valley, Arizona which is located right between Kingman on one side and Bullhead City on the other. Both towns have everything you need for shopping plus Bullhead city is next to the Colorado river for swimming and other recreational activities. Across the river from Bullhead City is Laughlin, Nevada for those who like gambling the town is basically one giant casino. Distance to towns and cities: Kingman -11 miles. Bullhead City - 27 miles. Neighborhood Description

The house is located in a rural area on a dead end and quiet road. There are only three other permanent residents on the road and the rest of the houses are either seasonal or unoccupied including the house next door. From the upper deck you have a view of the mountain ranges that surround the valley.

Market Area

Golden Valley is a bit of a sleepy area that offers a few gas stations, restaurants, dollar stores, one pharmacy and a bar. There are a few other businesses but to do major shopping it is best to go to Kingman or Bullhead City.

School District

Kingman Unified School District, Black Mountain Elementary School, Kingman High School

Community

It is really a quiet community where you become recognizable fairly quick. People watch out for each other and some just keep to themselves. I have never had a problem since living here. A lot of the homes are seasonal which keeps things pretty quiet. There are three swap meets that happen here and are always booming in the summer time with some great stuff.
