I have been a green building contractor for 25 yrs. I built this home planning to live out my life here off the land, but now choose to sell so as to be near my grandkids. This is a solidly built, efficient, comfortable passive solar home with minimal moving parts and maximum natural materials. The living space is efficient, flexible, and gives a feeling of spaciousness and coziness at the same time. Suitable for an individual, couple, or small family. The 500 sq ft loft is currently designed to be open or quickly convert into 4 sleeping rooms with curtain walls. This space could be easily divided with permanent walls.
The house incorporates many simple but carefully planned features to make living here inexpensive, sustainable, and pleasant. I provide all of my heating fuel and 90% of my food from what I grow and harvest within 3 miles of this house. That could easily be extended to 100% if you fenced the property and raised animals. Property taxes would also be considerable reduced if you did this. The well water is reliable, clear, and has no odor, taste, grit or stain. The silence here is unbelievable, and every ecosystem and animal species of the northwoods is yours to enjoy within walking distance. The Wild and Scenic Flambeau River is just 3 miles away. Basic services are 6 miles, a larger town 15 miles, Eau Claire and Rice Lake 1-1 1/2 hrs, and Minneapolis- St. Paul 2 1/2 hrs away. Neighbors are diverse and friendly. If you want to live in a beautiful and healthy home and environment and have the potential to meet all your needs from the resources of the land around you, this is the place for you. It will also be great for you if you are looking for a conventional home, a hunting property, a vacation home, or a hobby farm. This is a solid investment that will hold its value in the coming times. This home feels like a conventional house, but if you choose to, you can provide all your heating fuel and food for less than $100 a year. Think what that will mean in the years to come!

Gas and mail are 6 miles away, county seat 15 miles (with excellent schools and public library), and larger metropolitan areas 1-2 1/2 hrs away.
