What makes your home a Green or Healthy Home?

Conservation was a priority when we designed our home. Very little water is utilized with dual flush toilets, low flow shower heads, an energy star dishwasher, and a front loading clothes washer. Annual utility cost for the home is approximately $400 for propane. All of our electricity is provided by the solar system.

Property Description

This designer built home reflects a thoroughly modernist approach to open plan living. Its simple geometric form is in contrast to its rugged mountainside 20 acre setting. The home is sited to provide spectacular views of the granite peaks of the Trinity Alps which are snow capped many months of the year. The 2,800 foot elevation assures distant mountain and valley vistas that include glimpses of Lewiston Lake and the Trinity River. The interior belies its modest footprint with its soaring ceilings and partial height interior walls. The kitchen opens on to the dining/split living areas. The bedroom/baths are on opposing ends of the common areas. Privacy is achieved by proximity not containment. Interior finishes include stained concrete floors, Douglas fir glue lam beams, tongue and groove ceilings, and natural woodwork. The walls are gallery white. European fixtures and cabinetry equip the kitchen and baths. The home was constructed with ease of maintenance and energy efficiency in mind. Traditional stucco, standing seam metal roof, 2x6 construction and premium low e metal clad casement windows complete an efficient, safe envelope. The home sits comfortably on the site, centered in a circular drive for convenient access and there are ample areas for outdoor living and gardens. A professionally designed and installed energy system powers the house, consisting of 12) 130 watt Kyocera PV panels, a 48 volt Magnum inverter, an Outback charge controller, and 16) 6 volt USI batteries. Propane fuels the Rinnai on demand water heater and the Rinnai direct vent heater, as well as the gas range and Dometic refrigerator. All additional appliances are energy star rated. A state of the art Austrian wood stove provides primary or supplemental heat. The water system consists of a 210' well with solar pumping and 6,500 gallons of storage capacity. There is also water catchment with a 1,500 gallon capacity. There is an RV hook up as well as an outdoor shower and composting toilet. It is worth noting that this home was engineered and built to the California Building Code with all appropriate permits. Shooting Star Ridge offers a dramatic opportunity for a spectacular off grid getaway or permanent residence. There are the beautiful mountains, rivers, and lakes of Northern California to explore at your doorstep. Should you be interested an adjacent 20 acres is available for purchase. As a BONUS this home will be sold with a full set of construction drawings and photo documentation of the building process. We are not interested in owner financing, however, we can direct you to a local lender who has expressed an interest in providing a conventional mortgage to qualified buyers.
